Seasonal Characteristics

Over 2,400 years ago a genius was born. He is revered by the medical profession and by every physician who takes the Hippocratic oath to serve and hold sacred the medical code. Hippocrates studied human behavior and finally produced his theory that human beings have four temperament types:

Phlegmatic - Slow-Moving
Sanquine - Animated
Melancholic- The Worrier
Choleric - Assertive

These were named for the fluid systems of the body. The four Season's fit perfectly into this behavior theory written so many years ago. Some tests today are based around A, B, C, or D people. This test corresponds quite accurately to the four temperaments.

If you are an absolute Phlegmatic, you are a Summer. An Absolute Melancholic is a Winter. Pure Sanguines are Springs, and Cholerics are Autumn.

The beauty of the human family is that, no matter how alike we all seem we are made in our own mold. By intermixing with each other, as men and women, the offspring of these unions are special and each has a particular look and blend of Season.

Summers: Walk and move slowly. They move about gracefully. They seem relaxed and tranquil. Their appearance is non-threatening to others. They usually dress in pastel or light colors. Summers speak in quiet tones.

Springs: Walk in a jaunty manner. Their movements are quite animated. They are quick in movement and even their voices are high-pitched when they are excited.

Autumns: Are determined people. They are firm in step. They know where they are going and let you know it. There is authority in their speech.

Winters: Have a special gracefulness about them. They stand erect with poise and quiet dignity. A Winter's voice may be melodious.

Remember, these are the Absolutes. Also remember that we do not view oursleves as others see us. Very few people are absolutely one Season, though you may get an idea of your Season from the personality traits we'll talk about in our next blog.

Stereotyped Ideas About Seasonal Color Analysis

Spring......................................Autumn........................... Summer......................... Winter...............

So many people have stereotyped ideas about Seasonal Color Analysis. The Season's system may seem to be based on the following:
  • Redheads are always Autumn
  • Dark Brunettes are always Winter
  • Blondes are always Spring
  • Light Brownettes are always Summer
  • Gray-haired persons are usually Summer or Winter

Books on Color Analysis have given that impression. In some systems you might be called one of the Seasons but are given a different under base of colors that work to improve your complexion. You then can be called the Season you look most like. But here lies an interesting question. When your hair color changes, does your Season change? As we age, we all will get gray hair. Does that mean we will then all be a Summer or Winter, as assumed above?
NO. Your complexion fits into one of the Seasons. Your hair coloring may make you look somewhat like another season, but your Season remains the same. If you've been given the right colors they will look good on you for the rest of your life! Take a look at at the pictures below. They are all gray haired individuals and they are all different seasons.

Spring..................................................... Autumn.......................... Summer...................... Winter...........

In each Season there are people who look just like the vision we have of them. They mirror their Season and are called Absolutes. But also in each Season we find people that are blended with other Season's. You may have inherited enough of Mom's or Dad's coloring to look like another Season. We then find four absolutes and sixteen blends. Color Me A Season has a color fan for Spring, Autumn, Winter and Summer. These fans have over 200 colors in them. The colors that will be best for you in the color fan will depend on what your blend is. A Color Me A Season Color Consultant has been trained and understands the blending within the Seasons.

The pictures below are grouped into the four different seasons. You will notice that it doesn't matter if you are gray haired, blonde, Asian, or a child. Every person can fit into any season. And yes, children have seasons too!

Welcome! What is Seasonal Color Analysis?

March 9, 2012

Welcome to the Color Me A Season blog. Color Me A Season has a new Website up and running. Go check out what we have to offer.....www.colormeaseason.com

You may ask, "What is Color Me A Season"? Color Me A Season is an educational company that was founded in 1978 by Bernice Kentner. She was instrumental in helping others find their best colors. She has also helped thousands of others learn how to do color analysis. We hope that you enjoy learning about Seasons and Color Analysis through this blog.

What is Seasonal Color Analysis?

Seasonal Color Analysis is a study of your body coloring. It includes finding your harmony colors of hair, eyes, and complexion. This part of analysis is fairly easy, you can look in a mirror and know that your eyes are blue, brown, green, or hazel. There are thousands of variations of these colors. Which special hue is the perfect match to your eyes? Which colors can you wear that will be most flattering to your own, innate color personality? You say your hair is brown, red, or gray; but which shade of all those colors is the perfect match? Do you know which colors to wear to show off your hair? What color is your complexion? This is where you may need help of a qualified professional color consultant. Most of us know about warm and cool coloring, but how do you find out what you are? Color Me A Season sells a foundation tester kit that has 4 different shades of warm and cool foundations. This is sold specifically to color analysts to help them find what color complexions their clients have.

In the picture below you will see a client having the foundation test applied to her. Your analyst will pick which shades of the foundation tester kit to use. This will depend on how light or dark your skin is. Then she will apply a warm and a cool foundation. She will apply it with a cosmetic applicator or a cotton swab. When the foundation is applied, she will try to work in both colors. The color that goes into the skin will determine if you are warm or cool skin tone. Now other tests will need to be done to determine what season you are.
